Breast Cancer Help, Inc. Honors NYS Senator Owen H. Johnson at Its 16th Annual Gala and Casino Night

May 23, 2011

On May 12, Breast Cancer Help, Inc. held its 16th annual Gala and Casino Night at Sheraton Long Island in Hauppauge. During the event, Lorraine Pace, Co-President, Breast Cancer Help, Inc. presented New York State Senator Owen H. Johnson with the Harry Ballard Humanitarian Award for his longstanding support of the organization. He has secured more than $1 million in funding for Breast Cancer Help since the organization’s inception in 1994.

The Harry Ballard Humanitarian Award is named for the late founder of Earthrite Textile Recycling who also created Breast Cancer Help’s clothing bin program.

Those in attendance took part in casino games such as blackjack, roulette, craps and a money wheel. There were also raffles and a silent auction. Proceeds from the event went to benefit Breast Cancer Help, Inc., its Long Island Cancer Help and Wellness Center and research for the causes and cure of breast cancer.
